Fourth quarter 2018 ended up being the worst quarter in the stock market in over seven years. The S&P 500 was down -13.52%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down -11.31%, and the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -17.29%. Bonds did much better with the Bloomberg Barclays US Aggregate Bond index gaining +1.64% on the quarter. The "flight to quality" effect was in full force with the Morningstar Long-Term US Government Bond index rising +4.10%.
